Geeky Granny

This is my friend, Joan, who hit a star role in her local newspaper. And so she should! Not enough attention is given to the fact that we Seniors are as web-savvy as our grandkids, if not more so.

More and more of us are getting around the social media too. Laurel Papworth has some fascinating stuff on Facebook users over 55

How does a stay-at-home Senior like myself get to be friends with someone on the other side of the world? This is a perfect example of the power of the internet.

Joan lives in South Carolina, a place that evokes images from Gone with the Wind, and I’m in the south eastern bottom corner of Australia. That’s nothing when you’re online. We meet via Squidoo and Facebook.

She’s also the co-host of a twice-monthly show on BlogtalkRadio and has 5,000 followers on Twitter.

Here’s a hearty “Good on you, mate” to the Herald Online for having the foresight to feature Joan.

Is she a Granny Geek? or a Geeky Granny?
